Lifeguard Classes

OWA Swim School is thrilled to offer full certification courses in Lifeguarding, First Aid, CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer through the American Red Cross (2 year certification)!

These classes will provide you with the certification necessary to qualify for several job locations throughout Charlotte (and beyond!), including here at OWA Swim School. Our on-site, experienced Lifeguard Instructor, Jessica ensures a complete and rewarding class experience.

All Lifeguarding courses will be conducted Friday (5pm-10pm), Saturday (9am-6pm), and Sunday (9am-6pm). 

*These courses utilize online homework you may watch on your schedule that must be completed prior to the first day of class and 3 in-person water skills sessions. 

Lifeguard Course Prerequisites:

Must be 15 or older by the last day of class

Be able to swim 200 yards continuously (not timed) using Freestyle and Breastroke

Complete a timed event ( 1 min. 40 sec. ) swimming 20 yards, retrieve a 10 lb. bag, swim the bag back 20 yards, and get the bag and yourself out of the water

2 min. of treading water, using legs only. 

Water Rescue Training

Recertification Only: $200

Full Course: $300

No refunds will be given if you are unable to do the above skills on the first day of class. If you have concerns regarding these prerequisites, please call and speak with our Lifeguard Instructor, Jessica at 980-272-7946 to set up a swim test before your clas begins.

I understand there is a prerequisite skills test conducted on the first day of class that is required to participate in the course and no refunds will be given for students unable to complete the skills test.
I understand this class has online homework that must be fully completed PRIOR to the first in-person class session. Participants who have not completed the online homework will not be allowed to participate in the course.
I understand this class is "Blended Learning" style and I must complete all online homework AND attend ALL in-person sessions to pass the course.
I understand that registering for this course does not guarantee that a certification will be issued. All participants must complete all skills proficiently and certificates are issued at the instructor's discretion.
